I'm back with a new poem! I am quite sure that this will be one of the last poems I'm going to include in Dauntless, and honestly this poem is one of my new favorites. It focuses on the lies that we as humans often try to hide behind, and how, like a mask, such things cannot remain hidden forever.
What a paradox we then find ourselves in,
That with great trepidation, and bated breath,
Parade about us falsities wrapped in human skin.
So far gone into darkness, so deep in lies,
Have masks melded with flesh and bone?
Despite our desperation, have we become what we despise?
Yet we continue to reject that which will bring salvation,
Choosing ignorance instead, a blind faulted trust,
Failing to bring the consequences of our actions into consideration.
We predictably exude that which we want others to believe,
We present our plethora of masks, display them for all to see,
Hiding the venom that eats us alive, prohibiting us from being free.
The vile lies of humanity will always be revealed,
Masks fade, darkness flees in the presence of the light,
Never does evil, in all its influence, remain concealed.
For what can stop the power of noble ideas?
Truth writ with blood and ink, lived for, died for...
For all of humanity, God yearns to show us who He is.
For a mask does not hide intentions forever,
It will often reflect the user's dubious intent,
How clever we think we are, fighting a worthless endeavor,
Truth is a mirror, it shows us our flaws,
But, if we uphold the light with courage,
We shall see we stand for a mighty cause.
